Pacific Gate residential tower August 19, 2020 at 10:15PM

Global architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox has completed a high-rise condo building on the San Diego waterfront, with a curved glass form that stands out from the city’s boxy towers.

Pacific Gate by Bosa stands 41 storeys tall at the junction of Broadway and Pacific – the main access into the downtown area from the coastal highway.

Internationally-renowned artist Jaume Plensa’s first public sculpture in San Diego was installed at the landmark Pacific Gate residential tower Downtown.

The Barcelona native, who is known for creating monumental sculptures in cities across the world, said his 25-foot-high San Diego work is inspired by the nearby ocean.

“I hope my sculpture will be an icon for the city, embracing a diverse community which is always changing yet always intrinsically connected to the ocean,”

Calliope on the cool tile. August 18, 2020 at 02:27PM

A dogs eye view.

The last week has been very warm, abnormally warm, in San Diego. Although Calliope loves laying in the sun, she also takes the heat away by relaxing on the cool tile.

Mountain Kingsnake – Or? August 15, 2020 at 10:51PM

I do not really know what this snake is exactly. It was found near Tecolote Canyon in San Diego. It is now in captivity. It eats well, and has shed. The main reason to take this snake was that it had two fairly deep wounds, that are now healing. But I think it is beautiful!
I think it is a Coastal Mountain Kingsnake, but have also been told that it might be a Sianolan Milk Snake.

Calliope Mid-Leap August 10, 2020 at 08:03PM

So, Fiesta Island, again. This is Calliope focused on the brush ahead, where a rabbit she is chasing is moving the brush as it runs. Calliope has her ears trained on the noisees the rabbit makes running through the brush, but she leaps, while running, to get a visual target. … She never catches the rabbits, but she sure does try.

Leaving Fiesta Island August 08, 2020 at 09:56PM

I do not think Fiesta Island should be open on the weekends in the time of COVID. This is the traffic jam leaving the island. It took me most of an hour to get off the island. And addition to the backup on the road, you can see the parking area is also full. I saw no masks, and social distancing was nonexistant.
